The Office of Entrepreneurship and Commercialization (OEC) in the Office of the Vice President for Research seeks an experienced Program and Events Manager to lead and execute select entrepreneurial events and programs under the Invent Penn State initiative. Reporting to the director of the OEC, the Program and Events Manager is a full-time position responsible for program development, schedule management, budgeting, marketing, registration, speakers, logistics, contracts, on-site event management, and evaluation for each program, with each program having its own unique objectives. This individual will work collaboratively with internal and/or external partners to determine required marketing and promotional efforts. The Program Manager is instrumental in enhancing the universitys capacity and capability to develop startup companies through events like Penn State Startup Week, Global Entrepreneurship Week and the Invent Penn State Venture & IP Conference. Key activities include: timeline building for planning and execution of events; developing and communicating with the event steering committees, managing the event planning process with internal and external event management services, continuously refine and improve programs and processes that serve the larger entrepreneurial community; identify and manage speakers and assist with sponsorship recruitment; assisting with theme development for each event, tracking of budgets for each event; and working with the Penn State Small Business Development Center and other entrepreneurship support services. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree plus four years of work related experience. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills in event planning, program management, or project management. Skills and Experiences: ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, excellent communication skills, budgeting experience, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, teamwork, and organization. Experience working with Penn State Conferences and Institutes and familiarity with event management software tools such as Cvent are a plus. This position will require a flexible schedule during conference delivery and may potentially include occasional weekend and evening work. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding.
